Raging Grannies take on CBS, anti-choice Super Bowl ad

I want to be a Raging Granny when I grow up! The Raging Grannies of South Florida made this amazing video that's bringing me so much joy to counter my disgust at CBS and Focus on the Family's propaganda:

Transcript after the jump.

I'm gonna be singing this all day.

(Announcer voice) You're on CBS.

CBS, CBS,
Corporate bull shit, corporate bull shit!
They won't take ads from MoveOn or the like
but take 3 million from right-to-life.
They're hypocrites and they won't give a voice
to women's choice. (Repeats)

They garbled the "they won't take ads from _____ and the like" I have no idea what they're saying. :(

YouTube comments are classy as always...

(oops, missed the transcript)

The Raging Grannies always make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I remember them singing their hearts out at a war protest I went to years ago. Can't remember everything they were singing but I do remember this, sung to the melody of the chorus of "Yankee Doodle:"

Dick Cheney, go away!
War is not the answer
You can take your stupid war
And shove it down your pants, sir!

haha so awesome! Never heard of the Raging Grannies until now. And YES I wanna be one when I grow up

This is great. Not just because I agree with sentiment, but because it's even more powerful coming from women old enough to remember what it like before Roe.

If it's anti-feminist to hate this video, then I am what anti-feminism looks like.

could you elaborate as to why you dislike this video?

[0+] Author Profile Page LN80 replied to MLEmac28 :

I didn't like this video because I think its sad that older women have to exude "femininity" and be "cute," even in anger, to draw attention to their cause. I appreciate their message, but I think their delivery of that message reveals the reality of not-seriously our society takes older women, unless they assert their "femininity" or motherhood.

What LN80 said. 10 white women that had children that had children were clever enough to think up CBS = corporate bull shit. It's like some stupid tv commercial where a little old lady HITS A GUY IN THE NUTS WITH HER CANE!!! LOL, didn't see that coming! I mean, regardless of whether you agree with the message (me: meh) or not, this video totally sucks because it just obviously is totally sucky and awful.

Are you familiar with the Raging Grannies? They've got chapters all over, protest songs about most issues I care about, and always know how to put together a fabulous ensemble. They're working in a great tradition of satirical protest, and in my opinion doing so with gut-busting success. You're right though, from everything I've seen they appear to be mostly white.

That is awesome! I know my grandmother would never have even thought of doing something like that. I think it's great to see these women taking initiative to help their younger sisters.
